Sunwalker is an appealing twist on the teen vampire romance genre. In a dystopian future where vampires have spread across North America and humans seek safety in walled cities, main character Lilly is herself a vampire, an extremely rare “Sunwalker” born of (and raised by) humans. She knows she's different, but has spent her seventeen years passing as human because anything else would get her—and her family—killed. Then she meets Tread, another Sunwalker, and gets a peek at the vampire world she has never known. She longs to claim her full identity, without killing people in order to eat. Could humans and vampires live in peace? It takes a few rescues, a perilous road-trip, an undercover mission, and a lot of trust-building to find out.Although Lilly has enhanced senses and abilities, she comes across as a believable teen: interested in new (or in this case rediscovered) music and movies, hanging out with her BFF, maybe having a boyfriend. She loves her mom but they test each other's patience. She has the naive idealism of youth, which turns out to be exactly what's needed to start making change. I loved how every close relationship was complicated by something: chafing against restrictions, harmful past actions, difficulty accepting a “coming out,” etc. These things are not resolved easily, and some linger even by the end of the book. I especially appreciated the emphasis on Lilly claiming and developing her own identity and strengths, with the romance as a sweet (and complicated) subplot.
I didn't expect the subtle undercurrent of facts about safe and comfortable blood donation, although a vampire story is the perfect place for that. I hope readers who are eligible are inspired to donate, whether they've given gallons (I'm up to six) or for the first time. Vampires don't actually need your blood, but humans do.

A real page-turner, and definitely some twists and turns to the plot. I enjoyed this book immensely!
It introduces a different way of coexisting, vampires and humans. It has enough action, romance, gruesome details, and that cliffhanger leaves you wanting more.
This book is a real page turner, I didn't want to put it down. I can't wait for book 2!
This is a great book for anyone who likes vampire stories. I liked her different take on how vampires were created; I'd never come across that before. It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger with lots of possibilities open and I can't wait to find out what happens next.
I was delightfully surprised to that Sanchez was able to shock us with several twists and turns! I was unable to put the book down. Looking forward to the sequel.
This vampire story had good characters and a great plot. Some vampire characteristics were what you expect, but the author puts in some interesting new aspects. It is fairly gory during the fight scenes. Several times the story surprised me, and I love not being able to predict what is coming next. The ending was satisfying even though it does lead into the next book which I want to read. I still want to know how humans are changed into vampires.
Imaginative book about a natural-born vampire. All it took was for both parents to have a gene mutation in common, and daughter Lilly was born a a vampire. Her uncle wanted her destroyed, but her mother fiercely protects and saves her daughter's life. Lilly is a charming girl, popular and full of fun. When her best- friend is nearly killed by another vampire, Lilly saves her friend and charms Tread, another Sunwalker. An unexpected betrayal sends her deep into the vampire's world where the book takes a shocking twist. Entertaining and fun, ST Sanchez has written an enjoyable story for vampire lovers.
